Uta Theresia Risch, 66, Town of Bern, died Thursday, June 24 at Wausau Aspirus Hospital.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 28 at Goodrich Community Church, with Pastor Dave Elleman officiating. Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake. Pallbearers were Taylor Harrison, David Fleegel, Chris Risch, Matthew Schug, Bill Draeger and Andy Schug.


The former Uta Cornely was born May 11, 1942 in Dornhan, Germany to the late Peter and Elisabeth (Hess) Cornely. She attended school in Germany, and was a beautician.


On May 6, 1967 in Haigerloch, Germany, she married Linus Risch, who survives. They moved to the United States in 1967 and settled in the Town of Bern in 1968 where they farmed until April 1996 and have lived ever since.


She was a member of Goodrich Community Church and Gideon's Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers, cooking, entertaining, volunteering at church, and will be remembered for her hospitality.


In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Kenneth (Buffy) of Athens; 13 foster children; two brothers, Reinhold (Doris) and Alois (Resi), both of Germany; two sisters, Marliese (Herman) Maier and Anne (Manfred) Schlotter, both of Germany; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Peter (Lora).
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her honor may be given to Gideon's International.

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
