“Sons Of The Congregation Who Entered The Ministry”

Daniel C. DeRose, son of the late William Daniel and Bertha DeRose was born in Medford on December 18, 1925.

Following his elementary education and confirmation at Immanuel’s, he entered the Northwestern College Preparatory Department High School and graduated in 1944.

He then entered Northwestern College and graduating in 1948.

Thereupon, he enrolled in the Wisconsin Synod Lutheran Seminary in Thiensville, graduating in 1951.

He was united in marriage to Miss Lorna A. Schnitker at Danube, Minnesota in 1953 and was blessed with five children.

His first call as pastor was from St. John’s congregation in Rising City, Nebraska, where he was ordained by Rev. Henry C. Gieschen, Jr. He served St. John’s congregation along with Calvary Lutheran Church, a mission congregation until 1955.

In 1955, he accepted a call to Pilgrim Lutheran congregation, in Denver, Colorado, which he served until his termination of affiliation with the Wisconsin Synod.

For a time, he was dependent on secular employment, among which was a member of the State of Colorado, Ft. Logan Mental Health Center and the Alcoholism Division at Denver, Colorado, which embraced Alcoholism Studies at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City.

In 1959, he became affiliated with the Church of the Lutheran Confession (CLC) and then became pastor at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Denver.
