Allan G. Hanke, 81, Rib Lake, died Thursday, Nov. 4 at his home, surrounded by his family and under hospice and palliative care.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 9 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rib Lake, with Rev. James Heffner officiating. Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake. Pallbearers were Bill Alsteen, Greg Hanke, Josh Harder, Shane Harder, Dave Fisher, Rodney Strobach, Allan Eisner and Andy Ziembo.


Allan Hanke was born on December 30, 1928 in Rib Lake to the late George and Anna (Everson) Hanke.

He attended Ward Grade School and was a 1950 graduate of Rib Lake High School.


On June 2, 1952 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rib Lake, he married Dorothy A. Vlach, who survives. He was employed at Gem Products from 1950 until 1967, and as the school custodian with the School District of Rib Lake from 1967 to 1999.


He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church and the NRA. He enjoyed woodworking, target practicing, loading and sighting in his guns, cars, boats, ATVs, motorcycles, working with electronics and spending time with his great-grandchildren.


In addition to his wife, survivors include seven children, Kathryn (Bobby) Green of Menasha, Mary (Timothy) Maertz of Appleton, Peggy (Dick) Olah of Westboro, Karen (Robert) Brown of Glendale, Janet Harder and Bob Bushman of Galloway, David (Jan) of Oshkosh, and Daniel of River Hills; 13 grandchildren, Natalie and Stephanie Green, Melanie (David) Fisher, Amy (Luke) Kaup, Todd Nelson, Travis and Mitch Schenzel, Lisa (Jason) Rashid, Jessica (Justin) Evans, Joshua and Shane Harder, Doug Bladorn Jr. and Danielle Bladorn; and nine great-grandchildren.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Vernon in 1999, and a granddaughter, Shannon Olah in 2007.


In his honor, memorial contributions may be given to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church or Hope Hospice and Palliative Care.

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
