Earl G. Glebke, age 89, of Gilman, Wis, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at the Memorial Health Center, Medford, Wis.

Earl was born December 29, 1920 in Byron, Wis., the son of the late Martin and Holdina (Knoll) Glebke.

His family moved to Gilman when he was a young man and Earl graduated from Gilman High. On February 7, 1953 he was united in marriage to Frances Peterson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheldon.


Earl was a lifelong farmer and outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, logging, making wood (well into his 80s), gardening, traveling, camping, fishing and being with his children and grandchildren.


He is survived by his children, James (Nancy) Glebke, Eugene Glebke, Karen (Gary) Knapp, Jerry Glebke, Susan Glebke, Larry (Laurie) Glebke and David Glebke, all of Gilman, Dale Glebke of Manitowoc and Sandy (Leonard) Lumley of Anaheim, Cal.; numerous grandchildren; and one sister, Rose Liazuk of Gilman. Earl is preceded in death by his wife, Frances (6-20-09); his parents; grandsons, Dylan and Cole Glebke; one brother, Carl; and his sister, Helen Hall.


Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church in Gilman.

Pastor Steven Haag officiated. Burial was at Meadowbrook Cemetery. Gilman Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
