MEDFORD -- Richard F. "Dick" Sapinski, 75, Medford, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center, Medford.

Funeral services will be at noon on Saturday at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, where full military honors will be performed by the Medford Military Honors Team.

Cremainal inurnment will take place in the spring at Medford Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

Dick was born Aug. 6, 1933, in Chicago to Frank and Clare (Grabczinski) Sapinski. He was united in marriage Sept. 19, 1952, in Rome, N.Y., to Betty L. Bennett.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Korea and Iceland. While in the service he was a cook and an ambulance driver. After his military service he worked for Bahr Construction out of Appleton, drove semi-trailer truck for Janke Construction in Athens for a period of time, and worked as a laborer at Weathershield in Medford for 27 years until his retirement in 2001.

Dick is survived by his wife, Betty L. Sapinski of Medford; two sons, Jerry Sapinski of Stetsonville and Ricky (Delores) Sapinski of Medford; four daughters, Elaine Sapinski of Medford, Kathy (Frank) Moyer of Granton, Janice (special friend Allen Blume) Raasch of Medford, and Amy Dassow of Medford; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by brother and sisters, Donald Sapinski of New Orleans, Ina Appel of Mayville, Sharon (Victor) Just of Arkansas, Ferdie (Shirley) Diethelm of Athens, Delores (Terry) Mantik of Racine, and Randy (special friend Jody) Diethelm of Pensacola, Fla.
