(April 22, 1970 - February 14, 2009) Jade L. Whittenberger, 38, Athens, died Saturday, Feb. 14 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where he had been a patient the past five weeks. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 17 at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with Kenneth Burisek officiating. Jade Whittenberger was born April 22, 1970 in Minneapolis, Minn. He attended various elementary schools and Bruce High School. On September 13, 2008 in Medford, he married Linda Schlais, who survives. He worked for Push, Inc. of Rice Lake installing fiber optic cable around the country for 17 years until ill health forced his retirement. He enjoyed playing cards, camping, fishing and his family. In addition to his wife, survivors include his mother, Loleta Gundt of Athens; his father, George (Cheryl) Whittenberger of Isle, Minn.; his children, Tony Marunowski, Venus Hryniewiecki and Troy Whittenberger, all of Ladysmith; brothers and sisters, Lisa Miller of Stetsonville, Bill Whittenberger of Withee, and Doug, Jennifer and Shain Mueller, all of Minneapolis; his mother-in-law, Karen Schlais of Medford; and father-in-law, Lenard (Pat) Schlais of Medford.
