MEDFORD, Wis. — Beverly B. Sandsnes, age 98 died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at Memorial Nursing & Rehab Center, Medford, where she had resided for the past two years.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford. Pastor Cathy Hinman will be officiating, with interment in Moen Cemetery, Cashton. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home.

Beverly was born April 15, 1910, in La Crosse. She attended Viroqua and Westby grade schools and is a graduate of Sparta High School. She married Alf “Sandy” G. Sandsnes on Dec. 11, 1932, in Waukegan, Ill., and he preceded her in death June 2, 1993. They began married life in Cashton. In 1934, they moved to Rib Lake, Wis., and finally, in 1937, to Medford. Her entire life was steeped in music. In the late 1920s and early 1930s, she worked in a music store and played the piano for a dance band in and around La Crosse. While in Medford, she played the organ for Community Evangelical Lutheran Church and provided lessons for clients of the Hammond Organ Co. Her connection with the Hammond County established many friends and acquaintances in the Taylor County area. In 1993, she moved into Store Croft Manor and resided there until entering Memorial Nursing Home.

She was a past member of United Church of Christ, Medford, and its Woman’s Guild.

She is survived by son, Arden (Reeta) Sandsnes of Madison; grandchildren, Carl and Eric Sandsnes and Terri Zimmerman, all of Madison; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Michael and Donald Sandsnes, Christine Zimmerman Paisant and Chad Zimmerman; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by grandson, Christian A. Sandsnes in 1961; two brothers, Russell and Arden Hoff; father, Russell D. Hoff; and mother, Mabel Ranger Hoff.
