----Schillinger, Evelyn G. (Schorer) (July 26, 1914 - January 12, 2009)

Evelyn "Grandma Great" G. Schillinger, 94, Medford, died Wednesday, Jan. 14 at Memorial Health Center, where she had been a patient the past two days.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joseph Stefancin officiating. Interment will be at St. Phillip's Cemetery in Rudolph. Active pallbearers will be Jesse and Casey Wages, Jim Rehbein, Jason Schillinger, Chad Liske and Zachary Jones.

Honorary pallbearers are Joe Schillinger, Christopher Liske, Cody Jardine and Dan Schillinger.

Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. The former Evelyn Schorer was born July 26, 1914 in Colby to the late Robert and Agnes (Witte) Schorer. She attended elementary school in the Town of Hull, Marathon County, and Colby High School.

On March 12, 1930, she married Ferdinand J. Schillinger, who preceded her in death on April 10, 1966.

They owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Frankfort, Marathon County, until 1949.

They then moved to Rudolph where she worked in a drapery, then as a CNA at Edgewater Haven in Port Edwards for 24 years until her retirement. During retirement she did home healthcare for 10 years, then moved to the Medford area in 1995. She was a resident of Memorial Nursing Home for the past 3-1/2 years.

She enjoyed playing bingo, word finds, and crocheting afghans, vests, dish clothes, etc.

Survivors include her children, Ralph, Carol Jean Schillinger, William (Debra) and Donald, all of Wisconsin Rapids, and Delores (special friend Mark Metz) Habeck and Kathleen Rehbein, both of Medford; brother-in-law, Silver (Helen) Schillinger of Wausau; three sisters-in-law, Theresa Schillinger of Marshfield, Caroline Schillinger of Spencer and Beverly Schillinger of Dixon, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several foster grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert; six brothers, Roland, Ervin, Fred, Robert, Walter and Elmer; and four sisters, Vye, Florence, Ida and Viola.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial in her name be made to Taylor County Humane Society Memorial Fund.

Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
