----Homer, Ernest F. “Ernie” (April 5, 1938 - January 12, 2009)

Ernest "Ernie" F. Homer, 70, Town of Goodrich, died Monday, Jan. 12 at his home surrounded by his family and Hope Hospice.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. at St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Town of Goodrich, with Rev. Carl Busse officiating. Cremainal inurnment will take place at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II at a later date.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Ernest Homer was born April 5, 1938 in Peoria Heights, Ill., to the late James and Viola (Thomson) Homer. He attended Westboro High School.

On July 11, 1959 at St. Andrew Evangelical Lutheran Church he married Donna M. Strebe, who survives. He worked at Hurd as a glazer, at Foremost Foods in Medford, at Wisconsin Equipment as a machine operator, at Weather Shield, then retired from Hurd in 2003.

He was a member of St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling for over 40 years, golfing for over 30 years and teaching his grandchildren how to golf.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Richard, Keith (Audrey) and Mark (Gloria), all of Medford; a twin brother, Art of Milwaukee; a sister, Mary Elliott of Marshfield; a sister-in-law, Diane (Mike) Boehlen of Tomahawk; a brother-in-law, Harold Strebe of Stetsonville; nine grandchildren, Jason Homer of Athens, Maria (Ryan) Kloth of Stetsonville, and Dylon, Alyson, Zackery, Mickey, Shawn, Frank and Hank Homer, all of Medford; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Howard "Howie" C. Homer on September 1, 1986.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in his name be made to Hope Hospice.

Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
