Cheryl Lynn Lewis, 58, died Dec. 18, 2008.

A funeral service was held Friday, Dec. 26, in Milwaukee. Pallbearers were Paul and Bruce Sackman, Toushane and Curtis Evans, Lashawn Lewis and Daniel Carmicheal. Honorary pallbearers were Darius Colson, Andrew Carmicheal, Toussaint Lewis and Travis Brecke. Flower bearers were Sarah Brecke and Kortina Thomas.

Interment is in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Stetsonville.

She was born Oct. 4, 1950, to Vernon and Betty (Brecke) Lewis in Stetsonville. Cheryl accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 15 and was united with Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she served as a devoted member.

Cheryl Lewis started her formal education in 1955 at Pleasant Valley Elementary School and graduated from Medford High School in 1969. She attended Milwaukee Area Technical college, where she met the love of her life, Morris P. Lewis.

Cheryl Lynn Brecke was united in holy matrimony with Morris Paul Lewis in April 1979 in Milwaukee. Their union was blessed with three beautiful daughters.

Cheryl was a homemaker until her children were in school, and then she became a housekeeper until she was no longer able to work. In her leisure, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing with her grandchildren, reading and collecting shoes.

She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Brecke. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving mother, Betty Brecke; her daughters Constance Thomas, Charlotte Grady and Angelic Lewis; her sisters Diane (Jim) Sackman and Sandy (Steve) Carmicheal, her brother, Duane (Linda) Brecke, 13 grandchildren, a very special godson, Lashawn and a very special niece, Sabrina, who was there at her time of need, and a host of family and friends that cherished her dearly.

Her family gratefully acknowledges, with sincere appreciation, the many acts of kindness, each gesture of sympathy and prayer petitioned on our behalf during this time of sorrow.
