(Cornwall) (March 4, 1924 - December 25, 2008) Jane E. Hemer, 84, Medford, died Thursday, Dec. 25 at Memorial Health Center in Medford, where she had been a patient for one day. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 31 at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with Pastor David Clements officiating. Interment was at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Casket bearers were her grandchildren, Amanda and Joe Viviani, Rachel, Ethan and Ben Hemer and Megan O'Connell. The former Jane Cornwall was born March 4, 1924 in Crandon to the late Leslie and Cecil (Hart) Cornwall. She was a 1941 graduate of Eau Claire Senior High School and a 1944 graduate of Luther Hospital School of Nursing in Eau Claire. She married John L. Hemer in Eau Claire and they were later divorced. She worked as a registered nurse in the Eau Claire and Mondovi areas, then moved to Medford in 1945 where she worked for Dr. Chester Nystrum, DDS, as an office manager and dental assistant. She then co-owned and operated Hemer Funeral Service from 1971 until her retirement in 1989. She was a past president of the Medford Curling Club Ladies Lockettes. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, baking, needle work, curling, golfing, family and friends, and in retirement she enjoyed socializing with her friends. Survivors include two sons, J. Mark "Smokey" (Julie) Hemer and Jeff (Kathy) Hemer, both of Medford; and five grandchildren, Amanda (Joe) Viviani of Evansville, Megan O'Connell of Madison, Rachel Hemer of Denver, Colo., and Ethan and Ben Hemer of Medford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bob. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her name to Memorial Hospital Foundation of Medford.
