Waldhart, 85, Medford, died Saturday, Nov. 29 at St. Joseph's Hospital palliative care unit in Marshfield, where he had been a patient for the past eight days. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 3 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stetsonville, with Rev. James H. Babler officiating. Interment was at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Stetsonville. Honorary pallbearers were Don and Alvin Abegglen, Art Ludwig, Emil Paur and Dan Mueller. Active pallbearers were Tyler and Bryan Paur, Tim Ruesch, Lincoln Vircks, Jayce Patterson and Kevin Waldhart. Hollis Waldhart was born May 27, 1923 in Stetsonville to the late Fred and Ella (Arndt) Waldhart. He attended Liberty Grade School in Stetsonville and was a 1941 graduate of Dorchester High School. After his education, he lived in Stetsonville and worked at Stetsonville Hardware. On December 15, 1944 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church he married Anita Strankman, who survives. In 1944 he bought a milk route from Chris Waldhart which he owned and operated for 40 years until his retirement in 1984. In 1950 they built a house and moved to Medford. In retirement he traveled and spent many hours volunteering at his church by serving on the church council and cemetery committee. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed working in the woods. In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Carmen (Tim) Ruesch and Ron (Lois), both of Medford, Mary Patterson of Omaha, Neb., and Carol (Bryan) Paur of Menomonie; a brother, Vaughn (Helen) of Ogema; a sister-in-law, Velma Dietze of Medford; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl in infancy; and a sister, Edith Wiegel. The family requests memorials to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donor's choice in his name. Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements. |
