Moyer, 61, Stewartville, Minn., died Thursday, Nov. 13 in Stewartville. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 18 at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with Rev. Peter Warmanen officiating. Interment was at Perkinstown Community Cemetery, with full military honors performed by Medford Area Military Honors Team. Pallbearers were John Keller, Jared McAndrews, Russel Warner, Jonas Dorzok, Eddie Neubauer and Kurtis Keller. Charles Moyer was born September 24, 1947 in Marshfield to the late Charles E. and Vivian J. (Greer) Moyer. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Medford, graduated high school in Traer, Iowa in 1966 and attended Rochester Community College majoring in culinary arts. On July 26, 1969 he married Nancy A. Howard and they later divorced. He enlisted in the United States Army from 1968 to 1971 and during that time was also in the 82nd Airborne and worked for a four star general as a cook. He reentered the United States Army and served as a food service specialist from 1976 to 1985 and was stationed at numerous places. After the service, he moved to Minnesota where he worked as a cook at various businesses from 1985 to 1989. He then moved to Wausau where he also cooked for various businesses until ill health forced his retirement on May 13, 2008. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors. Survivors include three daughters, Dawn (John) Keller of Stewartville, and Tammy Moyer and Melissa Moyer, both of Wausau; his significant other, Rafina Gauthier of Madison; and 11 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Justin. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to his family. |
