Frank LeRoy Skibbie, 73, Town of Greenwood, died on Monday, May 2 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 6 at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake, with Father Otto Bucher and Deacon Mark Priniski officiating. Interment will be at St. Ann's Cemetery in the Town of Greenwood, with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Mike Filas, Scott Skibbie, Dan Sackmann, Mike Banks, Robbie Edelburg, Benjamin Edelburg, Quentin Edelburg and Dennis Weiler.

Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., with a parish prayer service and rosary at 8 p.m., and on Friday from 10 a.m until the time of the service.

Frank Skibbie was born on May 23, 1937 in Milwaukee to the late Frank Paul and Laura Gertrude (Schultz) Skibbie.

He attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School in Milwaukee, then Green Meadow Grade School when his family moved to the Town of Greenwood, and was a 1955 graduate of Rib Lake High School. He then began a four year apprenticeship as a bricklayer for the Bricklayers, Masons and Plasterers International Union Local No. 8 in Milwaukee. He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1963 during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

On June 27, 1964 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rib Lake, he married Judy Ann Steen, who survives. They lived in Milwaukee where he worked, then moved to Brokaw, and in 1969 moved to the Town of Greenwood. He was a bricklayer for 27 years, a business agent for Bricklayers Allied Craft Workers Local No. 6 for eight years and was a trimmer at Weather Shield for 15 years until retiring in 2001.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church where he was a reader and a Eucharistic minister, 4th degree member of the Medford Knights of Columbus and a 4th degree member of the Chequamegon Knights of Columbus, member of the Bricklayers Allied Craft Workers Local No. 6, past state conference officer of Allied Craft Workers, past chairman and lifetime member since 1972 of the Wisconsin State Apprenticeship Committee, member of Historic St. Ann's and Taylor County Historical Societies, and past president and past member of the board of directors, a lifetime member of the Taylor County Genealogical Society and a member of the Friends of the Library in Medford. He enjoyed stamp collecting, gardening, making maple syrup and being in the woods and listening to classical music.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Paul Carl (Kari) of Thorp; two daughters, Lisa Ann (Jim) Johnson of Withee and Milissa Lynn (Mark) Engel of Medford; a brother, George (Audrey) of the Town of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Josephine and Makenzie Skibbie, Jessica and Jaxsyn Johnson and Jason and Larissa Engel; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty (Robert) Meyer; and a nephew, Jeffrey Meyer.

Memorials may be given to either Historic St. Ann's or to a scholarship fund for students studying history.

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
