Erna G. Stahl, 91, Medford, died on Monday, May 2 at her home, surrounded by her family and under hospice care.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 6 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joseph Stefancin officiating. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford. Pallbearers are Jeremy and Tyler Carter, George Tuma, Tom Strama, Bob Molitor and Dave Kalmon.


Visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford on Friday from 9 to 10:45 a.m., with a rosary service at 10:30 a.m.


The former Erna Schneidereit was born on January 6, 1920 in Tilsit, former East Prussia, to the late Friedrich and Minna (Krisson) Schneidereit. She attended school in Germany.

She moved to the United States in 1952 and worked at the Riverside Hotel in Medford.


On April 11, 1953 in Medford, she married Louis Stahl, who preceded her in death on July 7, 1985.

They owned and operated a farm in the Town of Hammel until the early 1980s.


She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Holy Rosary Society. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, crafts, knitting, sewing, playing cards, and traveling, especially to Washington to visit her family.


Survivors include two daughters, Carol (Mike) Tuma of Medford and Arlene (Brian) Carter of Ellensburg, Wash.; and two grandsons, Jeremy and Tyler Carter, both of Ellensburg.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Herbert, Erich, Herta and Kurt.


In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in her name to Holy Rosary Catholic Church and School.
