Kenneth "Kentuck" "Mr. Haney" Allen Floyd, 70, Ogema, died on Friday, Aug. 12 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 15 at the Rib Lake Ice Age Pavilion, with Rev. Michael Meier officiating. Inurnment was at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake.


Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.


Kenneth Floyd was born on March 7, 1941 in Kennan to the late Milard and Pauline (Shoopman) Floyd. He attended grade school and high school in the Kennan area. He moved to Merrill where he worked for various businesses.


On November 2, 1968 in Merrill, he married Carol Jean Steckling, who survives.

They lived in Merrill, Taylor County, Marathon County and Price County. He drove semi truck for 37 years, working the longest for Gene Rizzi Trucking, and earned the Million Mile Safety Award. He had also owned and operated five taverns in Taylor County for 15 years, and they took orders for fruit and vegetables from local residents, then purchased the produce from the Amish community and distributed it to the customers for five years.


He was a member of the Rib Lake Lions Club and volunteer member of the Rib Lake Ambulance Team where he was a driver. He enjoyed listening to polka and country and western music, and bowling for a league in Merrill.


In addition to his wife, survivors include six children, Michael (Laurie) of Ogema, Terry (Wendy) of Menomonie, Renea (Derrick) Sukow of Merrill, Theresa (Jon Westberg) Floyd of Prentice, Brian (Kristy) of Medford, and Gene (Tara) Grauman of Chelsea; a brother, Gary (Carol) of San Tan Valley, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Grauman; a brother, Bob (Donna) Floyd; and a sister, Velda (Otto) Holzl.


Memorials in his honor may be given to the family.
