Elizabeth B. Zak, 82, Little Black, died on Sunday, Aug. 14 at Memorial Nursing and Rehab in Medford.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, Aug. 17 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville, with Father Sleeva Raju officiating. Burial was at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Stetsonville.


Maurina-Schiling Funeral Home of Dorchester assisted the family with arrangements.


The former Elizabeth Becker was born on September 1, 1928 in Merrill to the late James and Margaret (Hipp) Becker Sr. She was a graduate of Prentice Grade School.


On May 26, 1951 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she married Tony Zak, who survives. She was a homemaker.


She was an active member of Sacred Catholic Church and the PCCW. She enjoyed reading, gambling, lottery tickets, gardening, and most of all spending time with her family.


In addition to her husband, survivors include three sons, James, Thomas (Melissa) and Joseph, all of Stetsonville; two brothers, George of Medford and James (Brenda) of Tomahawk; and 10 grandchildren, Tonya, Heather, Antonia, James Jr., Chris, Jennifer, Chelsea, Megan, Jordan and Holly.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carl; a sister, Emma Pierce; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Becker.
