Mildred "Millie" H. Heinz, 83, Medford, died on Thursday, Aug. 18 at Deerview Meadows Assisted Living, where she had resided the past three years, surrounded by the staff, her family, her dog, Chloe, and under hospice care.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 22 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joseph Stefancin officiating. Burial was at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford. Pallbearers were Jessie Dube, Carrie Friedland, Heath Heinz, Jena Heinz, Nathan Krueger, Stephen Krueger and Sarah Warchow.


Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.


The former Mildred Loertscher was born on November 19, 1927 in the Town of Browning to the late Herman and Lena (Lindenschmidt) Loertscher. She attended Fairfield Elementary School in the Town of Browning and was a graduate of Medford High School.


On August 19, 1947 in Medford, she married William J. Heinz, who preceded her in death on November 22, 1996.

They farmed in the Town of Browning until 1976. She worked at Medford Co-op, Sears Roebuck Store and Memorial Health Center for over 35 years until her retirement.


She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Sunnyhill Homemakers. She enjoyed her friends, spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards, dancing, gardening, stitchery, and traveling to Hawaii, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and throughout the United States and Canada.


Survivors include two sons, Thomas (Sandy) of Medford and Mark (Kathy) of Minocqua; two daughters, Diane (L. David Tyner III) Christensen of Seattle, Wash., and Joyce (James) Krueger of Medford; two brothers, Leonard (June) of Janesville and Harold (Helen) of Woodstock, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Inez Loertscher of Medford and Lydia Loertscher of Anamosa, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, Heath Heinz, Jena Heinz, Nathan Krueger, Stephen Krueger, Jessie Dube, Carrie Friedland, Sarah Warchow, and Karen, Antonette, Angela, David IV, Whitney and Tyson Tyner; and six great-grandchildren.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dale K. in 1979; two sisters, Alma and Marcella Loertscher; three brothers, Ben, Ed and Herb; and special friend, Roy Lekies.


In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to her family for future designation.
