Earl Miles Levine, 87, Birchwood, died on Sunday, Aug. 28 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Ogema, with Rev. Bob Giese officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Ogema. Pallbearers are Jim Christopherson, Bruce Levine, Don Hartke, Philip Christopherson, Joe Christopherson and Joe Amato.


Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.


Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.


Earl Levine was born on December 9, 1923 in Ogema to the late Joseph Carl and Gertrude May (Meier) Levine.

He attended grade school in Ogema and was a 1941 graduate of Prentice High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1942 and served until 1945 during World War II as an electrical specialist. He returned to the Ogema area and in 1946 moved to Alaska for 2-1/2 years.


In September 1949 in Chicago, Ill., he married Eleanor Geassler, and they later divorced. They lived in Chicago then moved to Lake Geneva and he began his career of over 50 years as an electrician working for Bogart Electric, Piper Electric and the International Brotherhood of Electricians.

On September 30, 1971 in Elkhorn, he married Jeanne Schlieman, who survives. They lived in Delavan before moving to Birchwood in 1989.


He was a member of First Lutheran Church and International Brotherhood of Electricians Local No. 890. He enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, spending time with family and being outdoors.


In addition to his wife, Jeanne, survivors include three children, Bruce (Linda) of Winfield, IL, Barbara (James) Christopherson of Delavan and Tracey (special friend Don Hartke) Levine of Lakeville, MN; two sisters-in-law, Pat Levine of Sheboygan and Mary Levine of Namma, MI; five grandchildren, Angela and Jerry Roman, Philip Christopherson, Joseph (fiancée Julie Waddell) Christopherson and Emily (fiancé Joe Amato) Levine; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and Don.
