Ray Vernon Blomberg, 83, Winter, died on Wednesday, Oct. 26 as the result of an auto accident.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at First Lutheran Church in Ogema, with Rev. Bob Giese officiating. Interment was at Garden of Memories in the Town of Hill, with full military honors conducted by the Spirit American Legion. Pallbearers were Todd Kadlec, Jordan Blomberg, Tony Rich, Corbin Sigurdsen, Eric Shuey and Colton Blomberg.

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

Roy Blomberg was born on May 26, 1928 on the family homestead in the Town of Hill to the late George and Lillian (Risberg) Blomberg.

He attended Ring Graded School, Forest View Graded School and was a 1946 graduate of Rib Lake High School. He stayed on the family farm until 1950 when he enlisted in the United States Air Force, served until 1954, then returned to the Town of Hill.

On August 18, 1956 at the Blomberg homestead, he married Marlene Morgan. They owned and operated a dairy farm on Hwy 86, and had eight children. On June 9, 1984, he married Rev. Terri Jean Parker, who survives. He was a self-employed logger, dairy farmer, milk hauler, school bus driver, janitor at Ogema Elementary School and maintenance man at Black River Senior Apartments in Greenwood.

He was a member of the Spirit American Legion Post No. 452, 28th Wing Ellsworth AFB, past member of Ogema Lions Club and Greenwood Dartball Team, and was a former Sunday school teacher and an active church member. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, traveling, meeting people, spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, being in charge of the money dig at the Blomberg family reunions, and helping others.

In addition to his wife, Terri, survivors include, his former wife, Marlene Blomberg of Pine City, Minn.; seven children, Milton (Allison) of St. Augusta, Minn., Melody (Allen) Kadlec of Mora, Minn., Michael (Heidi) of Osceola, Marcia (Timothy) Rich of Lino Lakes, Minn., Joanne (David) Shuey of Pine City, Mark (significant other Brenda) of Darby, Mont., and Janet (Rev. Dr. James) Brandli of Cornell; three brothers, Edwin (Jewell) and Lyle (Kathy), both of the Town of Hill, and George (Hope) of Ogema; a sister, Edythe (Robert) Gravley of Darwin, Minn.; a son-in-law, Alan (Kathy) Sigurdsen of Barron; five sisters-in-law, Myrtle Blomberg, Mabel Blomberg and Myrtle Blomberg, all of the Town of Hill, Madalyn Blomberg of Georgia and Joyce Blomberg of Rhinelander; a brother-in-law, Floyd Nelson of Ogema; 34 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanne Sigurdsen on December 28, 1995; seven brothers, Palmer A. in infancy, Alan (Jeanette), John, Ivar, Wilbert, Palmar and Laurence; and two sisters, Grace (Harold) Rhody and Betty Nelson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the First Lutheran Church building fund or to the ELCA Global Barnyard.
