Eleanore Dolores Lew, age 78, of Gilman, passed away on Monday, Oct. 17, 2011 at the Gilman Care Center.

Eleanore was born on January 10, 1933 in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of the late Walter and Sophie (Garczynski) Twardowski.

She grew up in Chicago and on September 29, 1951 was united in marriage to Stanley Lew. They resided in Thorp, later moving to Gilman, where they farmed, with Eleanore also working for Thorp Finance and making Christmas wreaths during the holiday season.


She is survived by her husband, Stanley Lew, of Gilman; five children, Stanley Jr. and Mark (Mary Ann) Lew, both of Thorp, George (Melody) Lew of Ashland, Laurie (Richard) Hoehn of Jump River and Linda (Larry) Olejnichak of Gilman; plus 20 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Eugene Twardowski.


Services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Gilman, with Father John Long officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends and family may call from 9 a.m. until service time at the church on Saturday. Plombon Funeral Service of Gilman assisted the family with arrangements.
