August "Augie" T. Birch, 70, Westboro, died on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home in Rib Lake.


August Birch was born on August 15, 1941 in Holcombe to the late Edward and Margaret (Johnson) Birch.

He attended school in the Holcombe School District and was a 1960 graduate of Holcombe High School. He had lived in Ladysmith, working at the paper mill for 10 years, then moved to Westboro in 1970 where he became the owner of Augie's Palace from 1972 until 1992 when he retired.


He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and socializing with friends.


Survivors include seven children, James of Bloomer, Dean (Doris) of Siren, Donna McMahon of Chippewa Falls, Connie Birch of Abbotsford, August Jr. (Theresa) of Milwaukee, Casey Deridder of Ladysmith, and Brad of Medford; four brothers; three sisters; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers
