Donald Joseph Lukes, 82, Town of Hill, died on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at his home. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, with Father Otto Bucher and Deacon Mark Priniski officiating.

Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

Donald Lukes was born on August 9, 1929 in Ogema to the late Joseph and Josephine (Volink) Lukes. He attended Jump River Graded School, and after grade school worked on the family farm.

On August 20, 1949 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, he married Anna Marie Kraemer, who survives. He owned a dairy farm in Catawba and later owned a dairy farm in Ogema for over 20 years. He was also a logger, drove school bus and a milk truck for Zorn's Cheese Factory. He retired from farming in 1979 and continued working in the woods until 1989 when they moved to the Town of Hill.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, and a life member of the NRA and North American Hunting Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, playing dice and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, survivors include five children, Chuck (Louise), Frank (Nancy) and Paul, all of the Town of Hill, Karen Lukes of Ogema and Theresa Lukes of Prentice; two sisters, Katherine Nussberger of Phillips and Pearl Olson of Medford; a brother, Dennis (Joyce) of Marshfield; a brother-in-law, Tony Brantner of Marshfield; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Brantner, and two brothers-in-law, Elmer Olson and Don Nussberger.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his honor may be given to the family.
