Robert "Bob" Bruce Murray, 84, Colorado Springs, Colo., died on Sunday, Dec. 4. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec.16 at 10 a.m. at First Congregational Church in Colorado Springs.

Robert (Bob) Bruce Murray passed on Sunday December 4th, 2011 at the age of 84 at his home in Colorado Springs after a 20 year battle with cancer. He passed peacefully and was surrounded by family. Bob was a long time member of First Congregational Church.

He was born April 3rd, 1927 in Minneapolis MN and was raised by his grandparents, James and Kathryn Woselka, in northern Wisconsin.

He met his future wife, Margaret (Marge) Murray when he was 15, while attending high school in Medford Wisconsin. He went on to study law at the University of Wisconsin and graduated with his law degree in 1951 after completing his undergraduate work in economics and his law degree in just five years. Marge and Bob were married in 1949 while attending the University of Wisconsin. Bob also served in the Navy during World War II.

Marge and Bob moved to Colorado Springs in the fall of 1951 where Bob worked for Shepard Citations. He then started the first computerized bookkeeping practice in Colorado Springs which ultimately lead to him starting his own law practice. His career included being the first chairman of the Housing Authority of Colorado Springs from 1970 until 1977 during which time he was an integral part of building several senior affordable housing facilities in Colorado Springs. He was sworn in by Chief Justice Warren of the United States Supreme Court, was a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association and was also recently honored as a 50 year member of the Colorado Springs Bar Association. In addition, he practiced law with his son in law John Stefonik. Bob was also an avid writer and authored several books, including "Legal Cases of the Civil War" which was published in 2003 by Stackpole Books.

Bob is survived by his wife Marge of 62 years; half brother Charles Miller of Wisconsin; children, Lynne (John) Stefonik of Colorado Springs, Jeff (Deborah) Murray of Fayetteville Arkansas, Michele Free of Colorado Springs, Darla Murray of Colorado Springs; sister in-law Carol Henderson; grandchildren Anne Stefonik, Jed Reza, Tim Reza, Caryn (Bryan) Carruthers, Jaclyn Grieff, and Seth Murray; great grandchildren Kenneth and Annalise Reza; nieces and nephews Rob (Jennifer) Henderson, Andrea Ehresman, Connie Swiggard, Don (Christine) and Ron (Melany) Bishofberger, and Richard (Terri), Steve (Naomi) and Cliff Fisch. There are also many grand nieces and grand nephews.

Funeral Service are planned for Friday December 16th at 10am at First Congregational Church in Colorado Springs.
