Clarice "Dolly" Eleanor Hubbard, 91, died on Monday, Jan. 16, at her home surrounded by her children. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Thorp United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 20 at Thorp Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

The former Clarice Warner was born on August 17, 1920 in Thorp to the late John and Esther (Soderberg) Warner. She attended Thorp schools, graduated from Thorp High School in 1938, and attended Bellin Hospital School of Nursing in Green Bay for three years, graduating as a registered nurse. She moved to St. Paul, Minn. to pursue her medical career, then during World War II she enlisted in the United States Navy as a nurse and was stationed at Mare Island near San Francisco. After the war, she worked at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.

On May 12, 1945, she married Dean Hubbard, who preceded her in death on June 20, 2011. They farmed south of Thorp from 1945 until 1978, then after retiring from farming moved to Thorp.

She was a lifelong member of Thorp United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Friendly Neighbors Homemakers, and was a secret pen pal with students at Thorp Elementary School. She organized and ran the American Red Cross blood drives in Thorp for over 31 years, retiring as coordinator in 2006. She enjoyed playing bridge, and was a Green Bay Packers and Thorp Cardinals fan.

Survivors include four sons Dennis (Fay) of Esko, Minn., Gordon (Nancy) of Sheboygan, Gerald (Susie) of Medford and Scott (Luauna) of Thorp; a daughter, Corinne (Ron) Gjerning of Altoona; 12 grandchildren, Travis Hubbard of Madison, Mathew Hubbard and Anna (Chad) Lovaas, both of Eau Claire, Crissy (Morgan) Hanson of Chippewa Falls, JoAnne (Joe) Korpi of Ogden, Iowa, Bethany (Trapper) Niccum of Durango, Colo., Adam Schneider of Baltimore, Md., Paul (Megan) Schneider of Thornhurst, Pa.,, J D, Carly and Max Hubbard, all of Medford, and Collin Hubbard of Thorp; and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Glen, Roger and Joe; a sister, Ceona; and a great-grandson, Samuel Lovaas.
