----Surnames: Strohman, Culver, Kaiser, Martin, Ewert, Ennett, Wedeward, Laganowski ----Source: Marshfield News Herald, Marshfield, Wood Co., WI, Tues., 15 June 1993 Strohman, George (4 Nov. 1897 - 14 June 1993) Services for George Strohman, 95, who died at 8:45 a.m. Mon. at Brown’s Maple Manor, Arpin, will be at 11 a.m. Wed. at Hansen Funeral Home. The Rev. David Culver of Calvary Baptist Church, Wisconsin Rapids, and a nephew, the Rev. Roman Kaiser of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal, will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wed. at the funeral home. He was born Nov. 4, 1897, in Gurgeneeland, Austria, to the late John and Katherine (Martin) Strohman Sr. He moved with his parents to the U.S. in 1905. They settled in Tennessee, where his father worked in the coal mines. They later moved to rural Marshfield and farmed. He attended schools in Tennessee and Marshfield. He married Linda Ewert April 5, 1923, in Marshfield, and she died Feb. 8, 1961. He began working for Roddis Plywood Co., now Weyerhaeuser, in 1920 and continued to work there until retirement in April 1963. He worked as an inspector in the door department. He had been a resident of Maple Manor since 1983. Survivors include one son, Robert of Marshfield; one daughter, Mrs. Norman (Phyllis) Ennett of Wisconsin Rapids; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. He was also predeceased by two brothers, John Strohman Jr. and Joseph Strohman, and five sisters, Theresa and Mary Strohman, Anna Kaiser, Cecelia Wedeward and Katherine Laganowski. Memorials may be designated to the family as they will establish a memorial at a later date.
