Kuehl, Esther (3 July 1910 – 27 Mar. 1998)

Esther Kuehl, 87, of 814 W. 14th St., died at 7 p.m. March 27, 1998, at the Marshfield Nursing & Rehabilitation Center where she had been a patient since June 8, 1984.

Memorial services will be held at 4:40 p.m. Wed. at the

Vaughn-Hansen Cemetery Chapel at Hillside Cemetery.

Burial will be in the family lot at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Hansen Funeral Chapel assisted the family with the arrangements.

She was born July 3, 1910, in Marshfield to August and Martha (nee Hintz) Kuehl.  She attended Marshfield schools, graduating from McKinley High School.  She received her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and her master’s degree in history from UW-Madison.  After her education she worked in Lake Geneva and then later returned to Marshfield to care for her mother and invalid brother.  She was employed as a librarian for the Marshfield Public Library for several years.  She started in 1962 as a general assistant, was acting Head Librarian in 1965, Adult Services Librarian from 1966 to 1969 and from 1969 until her retirement in 1972 she was the Reference Librarian.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Esther was predeceased by her parents; three sisters, Lorena Rude, Hazel Keefe and Adeleen Normington and by her brother, Richard Kuehl.

Memorials may be designated in her name to the Marshfield Public Library Foundation.
