Herman, Vincent J. (11 July 1925 – 26 Oct. 2008)

Vincent J. Herman, 83, Marshfield, died Sun.morning, Oct. 26, 2008, at his residence.

Arrangements are pending at Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI).

Vincent J. Herman Sr., 83, was called to heaven Sun. Oct. 26, 2008.

Vincent was born on July 11, 1925, to Mathew and Christine (Hilger) Herman in Rudolph. He attended Rudolph schools for eight years. On May 4, 1946, Vincent married Vera F. Rehberg at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. His early years of employment included farming on the family farm, driving taxi cab in Wisconsin Rapids, Consolidated Papers in Biron, Wisconsin Rapids Foundry and working in area saw mills. His most recent occupations were dump truck driver and shovel operator in various area granite pits.

Vincent is survived by his "soul mate" and wife, Vera Herman; daughter, Sharon (William) Youngs, Casa Grande, Ariz.; sons, Richard (Betty), Mosinee, James (Judy), Marshfield, Verlyn (Carol Jean), Knowlton, Roger (Sharon), Menomonie, and Vincent Jr. (Mary Lou), Auburndale; 15 grandchildren, Dana Herman, Rhonda (Terry) Nousen, Travis (Kristi) Herman, Richard (Dawn) Youngs, Michelle (Rob) Gay, Jody (Jerry Gerdes) Zopfi, Jill (Jerry) Mueller, Tracy (Christopher) Schill, Ryan (Jamie) Herman, Heather, Amethyst and Kyle Herman, Holly (Christopher) Fitzgerald of Fall Creek, Ashley (Mike Gardner) Herman and Matthew Herman; and 22 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by sisters, Marian Peterson Matilda (Tillie) Safford and a sister-in-law Hazel Herman.

As Vincent enters heaven he will be greeted by his parents; a brother, Emil; two brothers-in law, Stanley Peterson and William Safford; and a great-grandson, Logan Vanyo-Herman.

Vince enjoyed working with his parent's work horses, fishing on Lake Michigan, deer hunting, making rag rugs, doing puzzles and reading books. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Fri., Oct. 31, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield, with the Rev. Peter Manickam officiating.

Visitations will be at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services. Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery in Hewitt at a later date. Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI) is assisting the family with the arrangements.
