Mechler, Jeffrey G. (18 Oct. 1950 - 18 Dec. 1995)

Jeffrey G. Mechler, 45, of 1300 S. Felker Ave. died at 7:53 p.m. Dec. 18, 1995, in the Emergency Room of St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Fri. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. The Rev. James J. Logan, pastor, will officiate. Helen Brinkmann, organist, and William A. Allen, soloist, will provide music.

Internment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Karl H. Bertram, Rodney Siemers, Mark Fonferek, William Krohn, R. D. Wuetrich, and George Krieg.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thur. at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Chapel and again until service time Fri., at the funeral chapel. Knights of Columbus, John Eisen Council No. 1799, Rosary Service, combined with Our Lady of Peace Prayer Vigil Service will be at 6:30 p.m. Thur. at the funeral chapel.

He was born Oct. 18, 1950, in Marshfield, to John J. and Leticia (Hambright) Mechler. He married Linda M. Girardin on June 10, 1972, in Westland, Mich.

He attended Livonia, Mich., elementary schools and high school. Following his high school graduation, he attended Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich., graduating in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He then was employed with his uncle, Paul H. Melcher, CPA, until 1979 when he became controller of Marshfield Oil, being treasurer and assistant secretary of the company. In October of 1988, he began his association with Fleming Companies, Inc., Hub City Foods Division in Marshfield, as asssistant controller, until the present time.

He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church; the Knights of Columbus, John Eisen Council No. 1799; and a former member of the Optimist Club.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Mechler of Marshfield; his son, Derek Mechler of La Crosse; his two daughters, Cindy Mechler and Kelly Mechler, both of Marshfield; his mother Letty Mechler of Westland, Mich.; and his sister, Carrie (Bill) Pendergrass of Rochester Hills, Mich.

He was predeceased by his father, John J. Mechler, in 1974 and his brother, John Mechler Jr., in 1975.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Jeffrey Mechler Trust for the education of his daughters.
