Marth, Arthur (24 Aug. 1925 - 23 May 2009)

Arthur Marth, 83 of 1823 Highway G, Nekoosa, died Sat. May 23, 2009, at Strawberry Lane Medical Center in Wisconsin Rapids.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tues. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Nekoosa. The Rev. Carl Kummer will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tues. at the church. Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Arthur Marth, 83, of 1823 Highway G, Nekoosa, passed away Sat.May 23, 2009, at Strawberry Lane Medical Center in Wisconsin Rapids.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tues. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Nekoosa. The Rev. Carl Kummer will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tues. at the church.

Arthur was born Aug. 24, 1925, in Nekoosa to Louis and Emma (Kuhn) Marth. He married Gladys Ratelle on May 23, 1953, in Wisconsin Rapids.

Arthur served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952 and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was employed by Nekoosa Papers Inc. for 35 years, retiring as a digester cook in August 1987. His interests included fishing, gardening and hunting. Arthur's great joy was sharing his garden vegetables with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gladys; six children, Linda (Larry) Dye of Wisconsin Rapids, Allen (Cheryl) Marth of Nekoosa, Paula (Ken) Lewis of Nekoosa, Loreen (James) Haumschild of Arpin, Beverly (Lyle) Lowell of Wisconsin Rapids, Donna (Steve) Cook of Phillips and Allen (Cheryl) Marth of Nekoosa; 8 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Clarence (Pat) Marth of Wisconsin Rapids; 4 sisters, Olga Troyanowski of Wisconsin Rapids, Esther Spice of Nekoosa, Pearl Zeman of Wisconsin Rapids and Lois (Charles) King of Nekoosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant sister and one granddaughter, Melissa Lewis.

Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home is assisting the family.
