Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Wed. at St. Philip’s Catholic Church at Rudolph with the Rev. John Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Wisconsin Rapids. Friends may call at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4-8 p.m. Tues. and then at the church on Wed. from 10 a.m. until time of services. There will be a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Tues. at the funeral home. Leo was born Feb. 24, 1909, in the town of Carson, Portage County, to John and Christina (Van Den Heuvel) Sprangers. He married Alice Casper on May 15, 1934, in Rudolph. He owned and operated the family dairy farm in the town of Carson until his retirement in 1974. In 1984 he and his wife moved to Rudolph. He was a member of the Rudolph Senior Citizens and the National Catholic Order of Foresters. His hobbies were gardening, horses and decorating the house and yard at Christmas time. He is survived by his wife, Alice; five daughters, Shirley Zuege of Wisconsin Rapids, Valerie (Richard) Pascavis-Larsen of Beloit, Carol Sprangers of Rudolph, Shelley (Glen) Sebold of Milladore and Christine (Dale) Richardson of Junction City; six grandchildren, Michael (Ann) Pascavis of Waukesha, Melinda Sebold of Pelican Lake, Ginette Richardson of Eau Claire, Stephen Richardson of Minneapolis, Megan Richardson and Elizabeth Richardson, both of Junction City; a brother, Laurence (Mildred) Sprangers of Waukesha; and two sisters, Virginia Thiel of Wisconsin Rapids and Ethel Zvolena of Mukwonago. He was preceded in death by a son, James Leon in 1944; his parents, three sisters, Margaret Baldwin, Agnes Stosick and Marita Bayerl; and two brothers, Harvey Spranger and Donald Spranger. |
