(17 May 1952 - 20 Apr. 1999) George L. Hill, M.D., 46, of 812 W. Fifth St., died at 11:23 p.m. April 20, 1999, at St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit where he had been admitted on April 9. A Memorial Mass will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mon. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, with the Rev. James J. Logan, pastor, officiating. A pre-service music program will be held from 6:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Swanson, M.D., Mary Jane Swanson, R.N., Joseph Weller, M.D., Charles Strachan, M.D., Jean Ricci Goodman, M.D., Yvonne DeJean, M.D., Deb Heusi, M.A., Carol Rand, R.N., Marge Washburn, R.N., Carol Radetsky, R.N., Patricia Jirschele, R.N., Cheryl Conetsco, M.D., Debra Schuster, M.D., and Richard Mealey, P.A. The family will receive relatives and friends Mon. following the service at the church. Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home is assisting the family. Dr. Hill was born May 17, 1952, at Bartlesville, Okla., to Clay Frederick and Evelyn Fay (nee Hirschman) Hill. He married Linda Jane Wirth on June 19, 1976, at St. Mary’s Church in Minooka, Ill. He attended Sooner High School in Bartlesville and received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He received his medical degree from Oklahoma University College of Medicine, both in Oklahoma City and in Tulsa where he completed his third and fourth years. He remained at the Tulsa Medical College to serve his residency. The Hills then moved to Marshfield where he became associated with the Marshfield Clinic as an Obstetrician/Gynecologist in 1982. As a youth he was very active in Boy Scouting, obtaining the Eagle Scout Award, God and Country religious award, the Order of the Arrow, obtaining the Vigil Honor award and also was a member of the Order of DeMoley. At the present time he was a member of the American Medical Association, the Wisconsin Medical Society, the Wisconsin College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Bartlesville Masonic Lodge 288 and was formerly a member of the Wasano Shrine and 32 degree Mason. Survivors include his wife, Linda Hill; his children, Christopher Clay Hill, Zachary John Hill, Allistair Elizabeth Hill, and Verity Jane Hill, all of Marshfield; and his mother, Evelyn Hill of Bartlesville, Okla. He was predeceased by his father. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in his name to the family. |
