June E. Perkins, 90, of Marshfield, died Fri., April 10, 2009, at her residence with her children by her side and under the loving care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sat. April 18, 2009, at the Redeemer Christian Church in Marshfield. The Rev. Art Scottberg will officiate. June was born June 14, 1918, in Chicago, a daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Reddick) Hayes. June graduated with honors from Oshkosh High School. She worked at her father's restaurant, "The Showboat" and later at a bakery.

On Jan. 27, 1937, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, the former June Hayes was united in holy marriage to Raymond Perkins. June was the leader with honors of Campfire Girls for many years. In 1952, the couple purchased Perkins Chippewa Lodge, which they owned and operated until 1970. From 1970 until 1973, the couple worked as volunteers for the Bible Camps in Lake Geneva and Christian Camping International in Sandwich, Ill. In 1973, the couple bought and operated the Marshfield Christian Book Store for more than 13 years. After selling the bookstore in 1986, the couple took in and cared for Ray's mother until she went to be with the Lord.

June was a member of Redeemer Christian Church. She enjoyed cooking, listening to music and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed gardening and making crafts. June's snowmen crafts were sold in the Miles Kimble Catalog. In her free time, she wrote beautiful poems that expressed her faith. June will always be remembered for her hospitality, cooking skills, lilting laugh, warm smile, her famous French Dressing, and as a prayer warrior for the community.

Mrs. Perkins is survived by two daughters, Sally Larson and Gail Sealander, both of Marshfield. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Patricia (Don Tinsley) Germaine, Gary (Ginger) Larson, Don Larson, Michael (Melissa) Sealander, and Leslie Sealander; as well as two great-grandchildren, Edward Sealander and Joshua Sealander; and one beloved beagle, Molly.

June is preceded in death by her parents as well as four brothers, and her husband, Raymond, in November 2002.

Memorial contributions will be distributed between missionaries that June supported over the years.
