Mikula, Stephanie R. (17 Apr. 1921 – 5 Apr. 2009)

Stephanie R. Mikula, 87, of Marshfield died Sun.evening, April 5, 2009, at the Marshfield Care Center.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wed. at the Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI), with the Rev. Charles Stoetzel officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wed. from 10 a.m. until time of the services at Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI).

Stephanie was born April 17, 1921, in Chicago Heights, Ill., to Frank and Theresa (Romanek) Majerski. At the age of 9, her family moved to a small farm near Conrath, where she attended Maple Grove School and graduated from Tony (now Flambeau) High School in 1939.

She was united in marriage to Joe Mikula on June 8, 1940, at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Ladysmith. Joe died July 12, 2002.

Together they built a family farm out of the wilderness and raised their three children there all of whom settled in Marshfield. In order to be closer to them, they moved to Marshfield in 1995. She was a wonderful homemaker and baked the best pies. She gardened and worked hard with Joe on the farm. In later years she enjoyed playing cards with her lady friends, occasional trips to the casino and watching the Cubs on TV. She remained proud of her Polish heritage all her life and instilled those values in her children.

Surviving are her two sons, Allan (Gail) Mikula and their son Ryan of Green Bay, and James J. (Sharon) Mikula and their children Christopher (Jodi) Mikula of Oostburg, Gina (William) Hoffman of Lakeville, Minn., Meggan (John) Wingerter of Pittsburg, Pa., and Andy Mikula of LaCrosse; a daughter, Virginia Narlock and her son Tyrone (Janet) Narlock of Marshfield.

She is further survived by her great-grandchildren, Morgan and Madison Mikula; Haley, Jonah and Lucas Hoffman; Benjamin, Thomas and Madeliene Wingerter; and a stepgreat-granddaughter, Ashley Martens of Neillsville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; and nine siblings who all died in childhood; and a son-in-law, Don Narlock.
