Helen L. Reckner, 86, Marshfield, died Sat. March 28, 2009, at the House of the Dove Hospice Home, Marshfield. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wed., April 1, 2009, at Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI), Marshfield, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Helen Lillian (nee Schmidt) Reckner, passed away from this life Sat. March 28, 2009, at the House of the Dove Hospice Home, Marshfield, under the care of Ministry Home Hospice. She faced her terminal illness with courage and dignity.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wed., April 1, 2009, at Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI), Marshfield, where the family will receive relatives and friends on Wed. from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will take place in Ebenezer United Church of Christ Cemetery, town of Cleveland.

Helen was born Jan. 13, 1923, in the town of Cleveland, Marathon County, to Henry and Leona (Schmid) Schmidt. She received her education in Stratford and graduated from Stratford High School in 1941. She was employed for several years at the Marshfield Care Center as a nurse's aide and then as a home health care aide until her retirement.

Helen was an avid reader and loved music, traveling, going for walks, watching the Green Bay Packer football games and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by two sons, David M. Wurl of Marshfield and Larry (Carol) Reckner of Somerset; and one daughter, Linda (Dave) Wielock of Marathon City; and two granddaughters, Melanie (Doug) Salzman of Elkhart Lake and Renee Reckner of Somerset. She is further survived by other relatives, a circle of loving friends and her adoring cat, Miss Charlotte.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Gillingham.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the House of the Dove Building Campaign, Marshfield.

Helen's family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Benjamin E. Lawler, Dr. Michael Claessens, Pat White, Sherry Nussbaum and the entire staff at the House of the Dove.

"Don't grieve for me, for I'm free. I'm following the path God laid for me."
