Ehrike, Elizabeth (1 Dec. 1912 – 12 Mar. 2009)

Elizabeth Ehrike, 96, of Fort Atkinson, formerly of Marshfield, died Thur., March 12, 2009, at the Fort Healthcare Hospital in Fort Atkinson. Funeral services are pending.

The Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home of Marshfield is assisting the family with arrangements. A complete obituary will appear in a later edition of the Marshfield News-Herald.

MARSHFIELD -- Elizabeth B. Ehrike, 96, of Marshfield, died Thur. March 12, 2009, at Fort Healthcare in Fort Atkinson. Elizabeth was under the tender care of the Sienna Crest Living Center staff, where she resided for the past two years.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wed., March 18, 2009, at the Zion United Methodist Church, in Marshfield. The Rev. Michael Carlson will officiate. Jean Roehrborn will provide special music, with John Younkers serving as soloist. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tues. at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, in Marshfield and one hour prior to service time at the church on Wed..

Mrs. Ehrike was born Dec. 1, 1912, on the family farm in the town of Day. She was the daughter of Christian and Ella (Scheatzel) Mueller. Elizabeth was confirmed at Ebenezer Evangelical & Reformed Church and her faith remained a central part of her life. She received her bachelor of science degree in education from UW-Stevens Point in 1960.

On June 1, 1938, in Campbellsport, Elizabeth was united in holy marriage to Reinhold Ehrike. Mr. Ehrike preceded Elizabeth in death May 6, 2001.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother with a special talent for making the best sweet pickles around, her passion was teaching. She taught in local schools for over 44 years, the last 27 years were in the Spencer School system.

Elizabeth was an active member of Zion United Methodist church, where she served on various boards, enjoyed singing with the choir and was a Sun.School teacher for many years.

Mrs. Ehrike was an avid gardener and often entered her flowers in the Marshfield Fair. She also enjoyed rosemaling and spending time with her family.

Elizabeth is lovingly survived by her son, Robert (Mary Ann) Ehrike, Cambridge, grandchildren, Lee Ehrike, Sun.rairie, Tony (Beth Lytle) Ehrike and their daughter Graywyn, Sun.rairie, and Tasha Ehrike and her daughter, Nomia, Fitchburg. A brother, Christ (Verna) Mueller, Marshfield, and sisters, Ella Hoeft, Green Bay, Matilda Foth, Albuquerque, N.M., and Lula Mueller, Marshfield, further survive Elizabeth.

Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Mrs. Ehrike's name are encouraged to do so to Rainbow Hospice or Sienna Crest Assisted Living Center.
