(10 Nov. 1916 – 6 July 2005) Leroy L. Seidl, 88, of Marshfield, died Thur. July 6, 2005, at the Marshfield Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Mon., July 11, 2005, at the Hansen Funeral Home. The Rev. J. G. Gerum will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, with military honors provided by the American Legion. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sun.and again from 10 a.m. until service time Mon., both at the funeral home. Leroy was born Nov. 10, 1916, in Hewitt to Leo and Colletta (Durst) Seidl. While growing up, Leroy attended Hewitt School and worked on the family farm, where he acquired his love of tractors and machinery. On Aug. 3, 1940, at a little country church in Iowa, Leroy and the former Marion Schwantes were united in marriage. Following their marriage Leroy worked at Roddis Company and later at the shipyards in Superior. Upon the onset of World War II, Leroy enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving from 1943 to 1945. After his return, he and Marion made their home in Marshfield. Leroy worked as a plaster contractor and began a partnership with Justin Kopf, establishing Kopf Plastering, where he worked until the time of his retirement. Leroy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the American Legion 54 as well as a 50-year member of the Brick Layers Union. He enjoyed old tractors and farm machinery. His greatest love was that for his wife, family and friends. Leroy is survived by his wife, Marion of Marshfield; daughter, Constance (Bruce) Matzke, Verona; two grandchildren, Robyn and Scott Matzke; and ten brothers and sisters, Clarence (Margaret) Seidl, Austin, Texas, Millie Miller, Camp Hill, Pa., Larry Seidl, Menasha, Rita (John) Fischer, Marshfield, Doris (Wally) Jonas, Marshfield, Patricia (Roger) Rogney, Appleton, Clem Rau, Eau Claire, Eugene (Ruthie) Rau, Marshfield, Douglas (Audrey) Rau, Marshfield and Betty Beck, Schofield. His parents; two sisters, Marian Weister and Veronica Kopf; and one brother, Jim Rau, preceded Leroy in death.
