----Surnames: Zabel, Hetze, Thoma, Derfus, Ule, Peterson, Clark, Horswill, Doescher, Hamm, Peterson, Klosterman, Nystrom, Peck ----Source: Marshfield News Herald, Marshfield, Wood Co., WI, Thur., 24 Apr. 2003 Zabel, Donald (6 Sept. 1933 – 20 Apr. 2003) CHANDLER, Ariz. – Donald Zabel, 69, of 200 Knox, Chandler, Ariz., passed away at 1:30 p.m. Easter Sun.after a brief battle with brain hemorrhaging. Don was born Sept. 6, 1933. He was adopted by Leonard and Mira Zabel of Weyauwega. He attended schools there and then joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Korean War. He married Sally Hetze in 1956 and they later divorced. He married Carol Thoma in 1974. Don loved pets and music. In the early 1960s he and friends formed a band called The Dominos. They won a talent contest at the Marshfield Fair in 1961. Up until his illness he was very active. Don and his wife, Carol, managed Casas Del Campo, a mobile home park in Chandler. He leaves behind his wife, Carol of Chandler, his children, Debbie (George) Derfus of Marshfield, Larry of Neillsville, Brian (Denay) of Spencer, Peggy (Keith) Ule of Auburndale, Donna of Junction City and Danny of Milladore; grandchildren, Stacy (Paul) Peterson of DuBay, Kenneth Clark Jr., of Spencer, Jamie (Ryan) Horswill of Auburndale, Scott Doescher of Junction City, Danielle of Spencer, Nicholas of Milladore, Amanda Ule of Auburndale, Devin of Neillsville and Duane Hamm of Junction City; great grandchildren, Mitchell and Maxwell Peterson of DuBay and Collin and Aria of Auburndale; stepchildren and families, Jay Klosterman (Isabella and Merideth), Robin Nystrom (Joshua) and Wendy Peck (Andy and Stacy). Per Don’s request, there will be no visitation. The family will have a private memorial at a later date. He was loved and will be deeply missed.
