Thur., 27 May 2004 Zimmermann, Benedict B. (30 Sept. 1933 25 May 2004) Benedict Ben Zimmermann, Phillips, passed away on Tues., May 25, 2004 at his home at the age of 70. Ben was born on September 30, 1933, in Daleville, the son of Ben and Bertha (Vils) Zimmermann. In 1945 the family moved to Sun.rairie until 1947. They then made there home in Switzerland until 1949. The family returned to the United States. In 1951 Ben married his loving wife Geraldine "Geri" Seliger who resided in Marathon City. Ben was employed by the Roddis Corporation and then Marshfield Water and Light until 1965. Ben then entered the construction business with his brothers, (Zimmermann Brothers, Inc.). In 1980 when he came to Phillips and started his own construction business with his two sons. Ben has been active with the church and served on various church committees. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, serving for over 50 years. Although never retiring he enjoyed working with his sons on various projects. In his free time he enjoyed the company of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Geri, Phillips; by eight sons and three daughters: Jean (Ken) Weichelt, White Bear Township, Minn.; Jerome (Diane) Junction City; Jim (Diane), Marshfield; Sandy (John) Bilgrien, Marshfield; Kevin (Jean), Marshfield; David (Nancy), Phillips; Russ, Phillips; Bill (Kathy), Marshfield; Mary (George) Ley, Hugo, Minn.; Lisa (Jim) Walcisak, Kennan; Don (Karen), Phillips. He is also survived by six brothers: Joe, Winter; Karl (Cathy), Marshfield; Paul (Mary Jane), Spencer; Pete (Sharon), Tomahawk; Henry (Alonie), Marshfield; Tom (Jennifer) Marshfield; four sisters: Elizabeth Soper, Jackson, Mich.; Helen (Ronald) Gotz, Marshfield; Mary (Jim) Weigel, Stratford; and Kathy Dale, Toledo, Ohio; a sister-in-law Betty Zimmermann, Marshfield; and by 26 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Bernard. A Memorial service will be held at 12 Noon on Sat. May 29, at Our Lady of the North Catholic Church, Phillips, with Fr. Gerald Hagen officiating. Inurnment will be in the St Patrick's Cemetery, Phillips. Friends may call from 10 a.m. on Sat. May 29, at the church until the hour of the service. The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, is in charge of the service.
