Fehrenbach, Elaine Hansen (3 July 1916 – 7 Feb. 2009)

Elaine Hansen Fehrenbach, 92, of Marshfield died Sat.evening at Saint Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Tues., February 10, 2009, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. James Logan. Suzanne Golden will provide the music for the services. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Visitations will be from 10:30 a.m. Tues. at the church until time of the services.

Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI) is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Elaine was born July 3, 1916, in Marshfield to Charles and Myrtle (Johnson) Hansen, where she graduated from McKinley High School.

She was united in marriage to Dr. Gerald J. Fehrenbach on August 27, 1935, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They were married for 67 years before his death in June 2002.

She worked as a medical laboratory technician at the Marshfield Clinic. She did volunteer work at the Red Cross Blood Mobile, Wood County Mental Health Hospital, American Lung Association and Our Lady of Peace School, where she helped teach remedial reading to elementary students. She also was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.

Elaine and her husband liked to travel. They toured all of the European countries and visited the Far East, Middle East, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, as well as the islands of Fiji, Bermuda, Cypress, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

She was a bridge enthusiast and participated in duplicate bridge as well as the bridge marathon for many years. She also was an avid reader.

Elaine is survived by her son, Dr. Paul (Donna) Fehrenbach of Pittsboro, N.C., and two grandchildren, James (Jenny) Fehrenbach of Edina, Minn.; Anne (John) Esser of Madison and three great-grandchildren, Carolina, Connor and Preston. She is further survived by her sisters, Lois (Bill) Browe of Marshfield, Virginia (Walter) Jablonski of New Jersey and a sister-in-law Delphine (Charles) Hansen of Marshfield.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers John, Charles and James Hansen; two sisters Florence (Sid) Grover of Detroit and Lucille (William) Kruthoff of Marshfield.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Our Lady of Peace School (MACS).
