Frederick August Kuethe was born in Menasha, Wis., August 25, 1876. His parents moved to Spencer when he was five years old. He attended the public school there. Eight years later, a year after the memorable fire in the city, the family located in this city and he continued his educational training in the parochial school of Immanuel's Lutheran Church. His father was a wagon maker by trade. In 1880 the family located in Marathon City, where he continued his studies in the public school. After leaving school he took employment in his father's wagon making shop and followed this work seven years, shortly after which, following the death of his father, he, his mother, brother and sister returned to Marshfield to reside. After spending three years at carpenter work in this city he entered the employ of the Lang and Scharmann Company, taking a job in their pattern making department, and continued with this concern until 1913 when he in partnership with August Kuehl opened a machine shop, which they have conducted successfully since.

Mr. Kuethe was married to Anna Deering of Marshfield in Marshfield on June 20, 1900. They are the parents of four children, Harold Kuethe of Spencer; Arnold Kuethe of Washington D. C.; Alfred and Verna Kuethe of Marshfield.

Mr. Kuethe is a member of the Lutheran Accident and Sick Benefit Society and the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the treasurer of the poor committee of that church. Politically he is a Republican. His hobby is fishing.
