(27 Apr. 1915 – 13 Nov. 2008) WISCONSIN RAPIDS -- Ruth I. Erickson, 93, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Thur. evening, Nov. 13, 2008, at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Mon., at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Martin Baur will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Slidre Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Auburndale. Ruth was born April 27, 1915, in Arpin, to Albert and Emma (Mount) Stoflet. She married Ole Erickson on April 27, 1932, in Arpin. They were married almost 62 years when Ole passed away in 1994. Ruth assisted her husband, Ole, in many entrepreneurial pursuits throughout their married life, such as home building and farming. They owned and operated Erickson's Auto Sales and Service, on Highway 13 North, from 1963 until 1975 when they retired. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Ruth was an excellent cook and homemaker and was also an exceptional gardener. She loved music, especially old-time polkas and waltzes. She is survived by two sons, Robert (Donna), and Norman (Patricia), both of Hayward; two daughters, Betty Nicholson, St. Cloud, Minn., and Dona (Harold) Zieher, Arpin; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Arthur Stoflet, Arpin; and one sister, June Cepress, Arpin. She was predeceased by her husband; parents; two sisters; four brothers; and two grandchildren. Friends may call at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sun. and at St. Paul's Lutheran Church from 12:30 p.m. until service time Mon.. Memorials may be designated, in Ruth's name, to the Slidre Lutheran Cemetery Fund or to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
