LISTOX A. HOUSTON, farmer and hotel-keeper. Sec. 10, 22, 3 east, came to this place, two and one-half miles north of Dexterville, in 1856, and built the Hurlburt saw-mill and ran it awhile as superintendent. He was bon in Lewes, Sussex Co., Del., May 20, 1815. His father, Thomas Houston, moved the next year into Ohio, and settled near Zanesville; afterward moved into Licking County, and, in 1828, into Delaware County. He learned the trade of carpenter in Delaware County, and worked in several places at his trade; then went to Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and worked as millwright and machinist. He was married, Oct. 28, 1849, to Miss Susan Kenmer, of Circleville, Ohio. They have four children living — Emma (Mrs. Dodge, of Medford, Taylor Co., Wis.); Anna (Mrs. W. T. Wheelock, of Medford, Taylor Co., Wis.); Charles, druggist, at Pittsville, Wis.; Thomas, at home. Mr. Houston has been member of Town Board, Justice of the Peace, also Postmaster thirteen years, from 1862 to 1875, when the post-office was moved to Pittsville.
