(31 May 1957 – 22 Nov. 2008) CHIPPEWA FALLS--Charles W. Apfel, 73, of 305 Edna St., Chippewa Falls, died Sat. Nov. 22, 2008, at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire, surrounded by his family. He was born May 31, 1935, in Marshfield, the son of Lawrence and Dorothy (Helmke) Apfel. He served in the National Guard and the U.S. Marine Corp. Charles married Annette "Jean" Lutz on Sept. 7, 1957, in Marshfield. He worked for Weyerhauser in Marshfield for 42 years. He is survived by his wife, Annette "Jean" of Chippewa Falls; one son, Jeffrey Apfel of Eau Claire; one daughter, Deb (Mike) Loiselle of Bloomer; one brother, Leroy Apfel of Milwaukee; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wed. at Holy Ghost Church, Chippewa Falls. Burial of cremains will be in Eagleton Cemetery, town of Eagle Point. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and until 10:30 a.m. Wed. at the Horan Funeral Home, Chippewa Falls. The Knights of Columbus Goldsmith Council 974 will recite the rosary at 4 p.m. and there will be a Christian Vigil Service at 7 p.m. both today at the funeral home.
