Stettler, Oliver A. (12 Jan. 1901 – 18 Sept. 1990)

Oliver A. Stettler, 89, of 1406 S. Palmetto Ave. died at 11:25 p.m. Tues. at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice Care Unit. He had been admitted to the hospital Aug. 24.

Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Oliver Stettler

 

Services for Oliver A. Stettler, 89, of 1406 S. Palmetto Ave., who died at 11:25 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital Hospice Care Unit, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hansen Funeral Home.

 

The Rev. John Schenck of Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate, Bruce Jensema will be the organist, and Janet Gauger will be the soloist.  Burial will be in Hillside Lutheran Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday and until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

 

He was born Jan. 12, 1901, in the town of Milton, Buffalo County, to the late Fred and Ursala (Joos) Settler. (sic) He was raised in the town of Milton, attended school there and lived there until his marriage.

 

He married Elna Lorenz Aug. 31, 1925, in Winona, Minn.  He and his wife purchased a farm in Abbotsford and farmed tghere until 1952.  They then moved to Marshfield.  She died Dec. 2, 1961.  He married Leliah Dopp April 19, 1964, in Winona, Minn.

 

He was employed at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory until his retirement.  He had been in ill health for the past six months and had been admitted to the hospital Aug. 24.  He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

 

He is survived by his wife, Leilah; two daughters, Mrs. Neil (Olive) Sheets of Marshfield and Lois Rothwell of Cottage City, Md.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

 

He was also predeceased by on sister and four brothers.

 

Memorials may be designated to the building fund of Immanuel Lutheran Church or St. Joseph's Hospital Hospice Care Unit.
