Hometown Bakery Wins Another Award

If you ever feel like you do not have enough art in your life, travel downtown to Sweet Memories and check out the artwork in their gallery.  Although Thorp does not have an art gallery your (you) will see amazing creative works of an art in Cheryl Romanowski and Becky Strzok’s bakery.  They do not use brushes and canvas, however these ladies can create masterpieces with cake and frosting as their medium.

Cheryl just recently attended the 2007 Upper Midwest Cake Decorating contest in Rochester on February 24 and 25 and brought home a gold and two silvers for her cakes and a runner up award for cakes made at the competition

These are not the only awards Cheryl has won.  She has a trophy made by the same company that makes the Oscar and the wall is lined with trophys (trophies) and ribbons two (too) numerous for her to keep track of.

At the latest competition Cheryl had to decorate her cake and set up in three hours.  The pressure is intense, but with all her wedding cake creations it is just part of the job.

Cheryl Romanowski is pictured with her award winning cakes. The one on the top left won a gold medal (only ten were awarded) and the two cakes in the middle both received silver medals.
