On Monday, May 7, at 2:00 p.m. the Thorp Historical Society held a meeting to discuss their upcoming projects and events.  They decided that they will be participating in the Citywide Thrift Sale and area asking anyone with unwanted items to donate them for the sale at the Historical Museum on N14945 Gorman Avenue.  You can call Tom Tylka at 669-3322 or Don and Jan Rogalski at 669-3307 to arrange drop-off or pick-up of your donated items.  In addition to the thrift sale they will be holding a bake sale with homemade goodies.  When the meeting ended I received a personal tour of the museum from Tom and Don.  The memories and history that this museum provides are so vast.  I encourage anyone who has not seen the museum or has not been out there for awhile to gather a group of your friends and come take a walk down memory lane.  The museum is open on Saturdays beginning Memorial weekend.  Also, tours are available by appointment.  So call and set up a time to take a walk through a bit of Thorp’s past.  The next meeting will be held at 2:00 p.m. May 21 to discuss plans (for) Thorp Dairy Days.

Webmaster's note: The Thorp Area Historical Museum located two miles east of Thorp on County Road X, a quarter mile north of State Highway 29. It is a wonderful trip down memory lane for anyone who is from the Thorp area or who enjoys history. If you can't make it on a Saturday in the summer, call and make an appointment. You'll find it well worth your time. Don't forget your camera, too!
