Dolly Alexieva, an exchange student at Thorp High School during the 1997-98 school years, became a U. S. citizen on Friday, October 19, in Milwaukee at the federal courthouse.

Dolly was from Bulgaria and attended Thorp High School her senior year.  “Dolly was very interested in accounting and completed two years of accounting in one year at Thorp,” commented Daryl Braatz, former Thorp High School business teacher.  “She really had a quest for knowledge.”

After Thorp High School, she attended UW-Whitewater earning a degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting.  She received the International Student Scholarship during her four years at Whitewater.

During her time at UW-Whitewater, she worked for the food services on campus for four years.  She was promoted to student manager after her first semester of employment.  After graduation she worked at the food service for a year as a store manager.  She was in charge of an ice cream store and a coffee shop.

“In May 2003, I accepted an accounting position at PC/Nametage, Inc., which is a company that distributes meeting supplies.  I am currently employed there,” commented Dolly Alexieva.

On the personal side, Dolly met her future husband, David, several days before graduation from UW-Whitewater.  They were married on April 30, 2003.

Friday, October 19 she became a U. S. Citizen in a very impressive ceremony at the federal courthouse in downtown Milwaukee.  A total of 79 people from 33 countries received citizenship on this day.  “It was one of the biggest days of my life,” commented Dolly.  “We were proud to be invited to the ceremony,” commented Daryl and Marie Braatz.  Also attending the ceremony were Dolly’s husband, David, father-in-law, her food service employer, and two of her present employers.  After the ceremony, the group attended a brunch at the Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee.

“Dolly should be very proud of her continued accomplishments,” commented Braatz. Dolly is presently working full-time and enrolled in the MBA program at UW-Madison.
