Thorp Alumni Chorus

For the 3rd consecutive reunion, alumni of Thorp High School will put together a chorusΦalums from any year are invited.  We will sing easy, fun songs.  Practice will be at 8:00 PM on Friday, July 6th and then again on Saturday at 11:00 AM, for everyone who could not make the Friday evening practice.

VOLUNTEERS PLAY KEY ROLE IN ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES

In early April, 3,400 letters and reservation forms were sent out to THS alumni throughout the country.  The letters invited the alumni to attend the 2007 All-Thorp Alumni Reunion to be held Friday, July 6th through Sunday July 8th.

Volunteers helped prepare the letters and reservations forms, sort each piece by zip code, and ready them for mailing.  Those who worked on this project included Dean and Dolly Hubbard, Geri Dudansky, Bob Hmielak, Lenore Giwojna, Tosh Stuesser and Ann Huls.  LeNore Anderson also helps when letters are returned and new addresses are needed.  Thanks to all alumni volunteers.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

NOTE: If you are a THS alumnus and you have not received a letter and form, please call 715-669-3698.

1949 GRADUATES – A NOTE FROM A CLASSMATE

Rose Ann Polnasek, wife of Bill Polnasek ’49, recently sent a note to the TAA.

She indicated in the note that Bill has had some medical problems within the last year and has asked for our prayers.  She knows that he would enjoy hearing from his friends and classmates.  (Bill and Rose Ann’s address: 538 Lark Ct., Union Grove, WI 53182

TAA SCHOLARSHIPS PRESENTED TO THS SENIORS

In 1983, the Thorp Alumni Association first presented scholarships to THS seniors who planned to go on to advanced education.  That tradition has continued each year and, on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, scholarships were presented for the 25th consecutive year, to THS graduating seniors.  This year five seniors each received $500 scholarships, bringing the total to 80 recipients over those 25 years.

This year the recipients were Marie Benzschawel, daughter of Brian ’82 and Rosanne Ciolkosz ’83 Benzschawel; Matt Lewan, son of Kim ’73 and Ruth Frisk Lewan; David Alger, son of Randy ’72 and Lori Alger; Jennifer Vetterkind, daughter of Raymond and Jackie Vetterkind; and Saran Van Slambrouck, daughter of Tim and Julie Van Slambrouck.

These five recipients will be introduced at the All-Thorp Alumni dinner on July 7th.
