100 Years Ago (1908)

The local G. A. R. Post has received a beautiful picture of Abraham Lincoln.

75 Years Ago (1933)

Martin Dukoven opened his Daytime Bakeshop in Owen on Saturday.

Roger Creek and Town Line – From 19 to 20 cents per pound was the price paid for butter fat by local cheese factories March 2.

Stanley Ciolkosz has installed a homemade electric light plant in his home.

Ralph Steele was very seriously injured when he fell on a wood saw while cutting wood near Curtiss on Saturday.

50 Years Ago (1958)

The birth of twin calves is not uncommon on Wisconsin farms, but two sets of twin calves born within 4 ˝ hours on the same farm must be special news.  This event took place on the Ray Sorenson farm, route 2, Stanley, Friday morning, Feb. 21.  All four were bulls and are reported to be in excellent health.

A Clark County Highway Department employee from Owen is thankful to be alive after a harrowing experience Friday when he was trapped inside the cab of his truck during a gravel landslide.

25 Years Ago (1983)

Members of the Thorp volunteer Fire Department responded with assistance to the Greenwood Fire Department to a fire located at the Julius Klapatauskas residence in the Town of Mead, located eleven miles south of Thorp on CTH M.

Mr. Bill Petrusczak was sworn in as the Lublin Postmaster on March 4, at the Lublin Post Office.

Ed Maslowski of Mapleton Wood Products, Inc. of Thorp has replaced the bowed table with a brand new oak table in the children’s room at the Thorp Public Library.

10 Years Ago (1998)

Clark County residents are faced with choosing to pay a county sales tax or bear an increase in property tax.

Austin Tollefson, Kevin Wisniewski and John Frenette moved into Boy Scouts at the annual Blue and Gold Banquet; Paul Larson, Tom Zakrzewicz, Richie DeBauche and Matt Farr received their Webelos colors; Wesley Wampole and Matthew Murphy gained the rank of Bear; Matthey Murphy, David Pszeniczny, Justin Messing, Wesley Wampole, Brock Polnaszek, Ricky Truckey and Jake Dusek go (got) their Pinewood Derby medals.
